WhatsApp and video calls are brilliant for keeping in touch, but scammers sometimes pretend to be family members or trusted contacts.
Simple checks
- Be careful if a message says a family member has a new number and urgently needs money.
- Call the person on their old number, or ask a question only they would know.
- Do not share verification codes with anyone.
- Use video calls only with people you recognise and trust.
