If friends receive strange messages from you, or you cannot sign in, your email account may need attention quickly.
First steps
- Try to change your email password from the official website or app.
- Turn on two-step verification if it is available.
- Check recovery phone numbers and email addresses.
- Look for forwarding rules you did not create.
- Tell close contacts not to open unexpected links from your account.
If the same password is used elsewhere, change it on those accounts too.
